The city of Los Angeles is located in a basin in Southern California, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean that extends through the Santa Monica Mountains to the San. California is one of three states on the West Coast. Located directly below Oregon, California stretches along the coast from north to south for 900 miles. With a total area of 163,696 square miles, California is the third largest state based on geographical size alone.

Many of these cities exist within the Los Angeles County umbrella, but they have much less to do with your county when it comes to day-to-day affairs. Outside of some centers such as Downtown, Warner Center, Century City, Koreatown, Miracle Mile, Hollywood and Westwood, skyscrapers and high-rise buildings are not common in Los Angeles.
